At Defiant Phoenix, my goal (alongside with those who help me, hence the use of the royal “we” throughout this article) is to help freelancers and entrepreneurs to start, maintain, and nurture a thriving business. We embrace the latest advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to enrich our content and offerings.
We support the smart use of technology to grow business. But we also see the concern that surrounds exactly where technology is taking us. It’s an exciting, but nervous journey into a future that even 10 years ago was the subject of science fiction.

We use a variety of AI Tools, including generative models and AI-enhanced services to support and enhance our content creation processes. This includes researching, outlining, and drafting written articles to the creation of multimedia content and leveraging AI’s programmatic and linguistic capabilities for SEO research and execution.

Transparency and the Ethical Use of AI
A time is coming when humans will not be able to tell the difference between AI and human; these lines are already deeply blurred. Our AI policy is one of transparency. We are setting the example we want to see in a world where “secret” use of AI is an easy choice. We choose to be a genuine and authentic voice offering full disclosure of our use of AI.
Ultimately, we want to make human connections. At heart, Defiant Phoenix is about lifting people up.
Legal Compliance and Copyright
Our use of AI complies with current regulations and guidelines. Both the United States and the European Union are outlining regulations that will govern the use of AI in future. We support these measures, and our AI policies fall in line with the broad ethical principles behind these new laws.
We respect copyright laws and assert that our collaborative creations with AI are done with original intent and hard work. AI is a tool in production, and not the final result.
Our Expectations of Generative AI Are Low
AI is a powerful tool that is still in its infancy. We understand its limitations as well as its capabilities. Content created completely by AI with little human oversight is verbose and derivative. It has no new insights to offer and adds little value to the world’s knowledge.
Our work is a combination of artificial and human intelligence; our goal is to get the best of both worlds. Artificial intelligence speeds up our workflows while human intelligence fact checks hallucinated non-facts and adds personal experience and emotion.
Without human creativity or smart prompting, generative AI is simply a large language model (LLM) guessing what comes next. The result is generic, robotic prose.
We have no doubt that this will change in the future. But we also believe that when the time comes that generative AI can create actual “top-notch” content, it becomes even more important for the humans using this technology to be transparent about their use of AI.
Because at heart, we want to connect to other people – not to a complex simulacrum of humanity.
Continuous Learning and Improvement
As a part of the first wave of AI users, we are pioneers of the technology. As the technology grows, we are committed to learning and evolving at its side.
We will share our insights and demystify the controversies and complexities behind AI tools and applications. Our goal is to foster informed discussion within the freelancing and entrepreneurial community.
We cannot run away from this technology – we must learn to adapt to it and make it work for us.
