Ultimate Fiverr Learn Review: Worth it in 2024?

February 15, 2024

Freelancers, creatives, and small online businesses will find Fiverr Learn a great skills launchpad with a solid roster of expert instructors. But if you’re looking for recognized industry certification and topical deep dives, you may be better served elsewhere.

Fiverr Learn Review: What Is Fiverr Learn?

If you don’t already know it, then Fiverr Learn is an online learning platform hosted by one of the world’s biggest online freelance marketplaces, Fiverr. Launched in 2018 as a curated platform for freelancers and online professionals, the courses offered on Fiverr Learn are designed to help freelancers, self-employed professionals, and small businesses looking to expand their business and skills on and off the Fiverr marketplace.

But are the courses on Fiverr Learn any good? Will they help you to upskill and make more money?

Who Am I?

I am a Pro Verified, Top Rated Seller on Fiverr with over ten years’ experience of freelancing with clients through my own website as well as on Fiverr and Upwork.

I’m also a life-long learner who has used all the major elearning platforms over the years. My degree is more Micky Mouse than useful! I use online courses to help me advance professionally in my freelance career and expand into new avenues as technology, times, and client needs change.

(And yes, I definitely did serve fries with that at one point after graduating!)

But enough about me. Let’s explore the benefits that Fiverr Learn has to offer! Busy? Let’s kickstart with a final verdict before going into a much deeper analysis.

Fiverr Learn is a solid pick for any professionals looking for lessons from world-class experts in their fields. Fiverr has curated a very impressive team for its Learn platform. With around 100 courses and programs (course bundles), the catalog is small, but punches well above its weight with a tight focus on its core audience.

However, some courses do have production quality issues. Others suffer from an instructor who may win awards at what they do in their day job but are unengaging teachers who skip over material that, in my opinion, deserve at least a brief mention for the benefit of beginners.

Fiverr Learn doesn’t offer a subscription. Instead, courses and programs are purchased individually. Depending on your preference, this can be a good or a bad thing. As someone who living in the West tired of subscription bill creep, I found the one-off, lifetime access pricing to be very reasonable. If you’re living in the developing world or want access to lots of courses for one price, you will find better value elsewhere.

Overall, Fiverr Learn gets a score of A-. It’s a solid online elearning platform for professionals looking to expand their skills, and the courses offers a wealth of serious expertise. I’m only docking points because of the production quality issues present in some courses.

While these issues don’t make the courses unwatchable, they can be distracting. These issues are not persistent, suggesting they are the fault of the instructor, rather than the platform. However, this does rather beg the question of why Fiverr isn’t more more stringent about this.

The Fiverr Learn Review: designed for freelancers

freelancer learning new skills with Fiverr Learn

Unlike the ungainly sprawl of so many of its competitors, Fiverr Learn’s online course catalog is highly focused and self-contained. Fiverr has gone for quality over quantity with courses for skills that the modern-day freelancer, entrepreneur, or small business needs to succeed online.

Each course is taught by a recognized expert in their field. All the courses I looked at (and took) came with quizzes and real-world projects. If you’re like me, this interactive learning approach is a huge bonus. You’re not just passively watching, you’re actively doing and applying your new knowledge as you go along.

Learn Is Focused on Helping Beginners, Not Experts

Fiverr Learn is about upskilling and reskilling in a competitive online world where there’s always something new to learn. If you’ve been working for years in a field or are already knowledgeable in a Fiverr Learn topic, then you will find the courses basic.

For beginners, these elearning courses are a launchpad into getting a solid background and working knowledge of a new skill. You won’t walk away as an expert, but you will have learned the basic groundwork and fundamental concepts and be ready to take your training further. The programs are particularly good for this, since you’ll have a solid understanding of the wider topic and a better idea of what to learn next.

Focused on Digital Marketing, Creative, and Business Skills

Fiverr Learn is still quite young. The limited amount of courses and subjects reflect Fiverr’s original focus on helping its freelancers to grow and expand their business. You’re not going to find cutting-edge coding classes here, but you will find a wealth of knowledge on topics that are highly relevant to professionals running an online business.

There are some small signs that this is changing as AI, Big Data, and machine learning become more prevalent in our lives. Learn is adding on new courses that reflect these changes, such as a new data analytics course.

Fiverr Learn Is Pay-Per-Course, Not Subscription Based

fiverr learn course thumbnails

One thing I love about Fiverr Learn is its pay-per-course payment model. Subscription creep is a real thing. I’d much rather pay once and have lifetime access to a product. I’m busy, which means it can take me a long time to complete a course.

I don’t want to be penalized for slow learning with a monthly subscription. Or worse, forget to cancel the subscription and only realize months of wasted money later. No thanks – I’m firmly team one-off payments! Of course, if you prefer subscriptions, this may not be a plus for you.

There’s No Mobile App – But Fiverr Learn Is Mobile Responsive

If you live on your phone, you may be disappointed by the lack of a dedicated mobile app. I didn’t find this a big deal, since I work from home on my computer and prefer to learn this way with – gasp – pen and paper. Research shows that writing things out is a better way to learn!

The few times I accessed Fiverr Learn from a mobile device, I had no problems accessing the platform or watching my courses.

Still, it does feel like a bit of an oversight. All the other major elearning platforms like Udemy, Coursera, and Skillshare dedicated apps. Not necessarily good apps, but they’re there. Plus, Fiverr has thousands of mobile app developers in its own marketplace: why not hire them?

Fiverr Learn Has Done a Great Job with its Closed Captions

Every course has closed captions (subtitles), making them accessible to people with hearing issues or stuck in the ideal learning environment of a noisy and crowded space. If you’re not a native English speaker, they’re also useful for improved understanding of what is being said.

As someone who has hearing issues, I love this. The subtitles are in sync with the presentation and not automatically transcribed. This let me simply get on with learning, rather than struggling to understand what the heck is going on.

It’s also something that, for me, significantly mitigates the audio production issues present on some courses.

Payment on Fiverr Learn is Smooth and Easy

Fiverr Learn accepts payments through PayPal and Stripe, so all major credit cards can be used to pay for the online courses. One thing that I think is missing here is the ability to pay through Fiverr seller earnings for even more convenience.

Still, it’s hard to complain about the convenience of the existing payment methods. Click the buy now button, select your payment option, and get immediate access to the course.

Fiverr Learn Doesn’t Spring Any Surprise Hidden Fees

Fiverr Learn doesn’t have any hidden fees and it doesn’t have any subscription creep. Pay once, and you’re done.

There is a small caveat: depending on where you live, the usual currency conversions and/or taxes like VAT and GST may be charged. Some of these, such as VAT in the UK, may be tax deductible as a business expense, so it’s worth checking that out before you buy.

Fiverr Learn Has a Highly Curated Selection of Online Courses

Fiverr Learn user learning

Fiverr Learn has 7 course categories:

  • Business
  • Graphic Design
  • Marketing
  • Programs (course bundles)
  • Video and Photography
  • Web
  • Writing

For now, Business seems to be a “hold all” category containing courses that don’t quite fit anywhere else, like Lavanya Vijayan’s course, Data Science Fundamentals or Amy Fritz’s Working Remotely: Maximize Organization and Productivity.

You’ll find courses for social media management, UX/UI design, email marketing, public speaking, SEO, Adobe applications, and more in the catalog. For freelancers and solopreneurs who often find themselves juggling many roles at once, Fiverr Learn is a great resource. You don’t necessarily need to become an expert in everything you learn, but you do need to know the basics for your unique style of working.

You Can Try Fiverr Learn for Free Before You Buy

fiverr learn review: course screenshot
A typical course layout: there’s nothing complex here, allowing you to focus on learning

All of the courses that I checked have a free preview. There’s nothing revolutionary about that, but checking out the free preview is a good way to screen for courses with production issues or instructor mismatches. These issues aren’t horrible, but if you’re an audiophile, you may find it hard to focus on the content when the audio appears to be using a laptop microphone rather than professionally produced.

If you want to get a feel for how Fiverr Learn works when you’ve paid for a course, then there is a completely free course, Online Freelancing Essentials: Be A Successful Fiverr Seller by Oren Ben-Ami, Fiverr’s Education Manager.

This course is also a good option for new Fiverr sellers looking for a quick start guide to the Fiverr marketplace. It covers all the basics and directs you to some of the most helpful pages on Fiverr for setting up your gigs. Starting on Fiverr can be very confusing, so it’s nice to have this simple guide take you through the process.

While the content of this free Fiverr Learn course isn’t going to be useful if you have no plans to sell on Fiverr, it’s still a good opportunity to take the Fiverr Learn experience for a test drive before you buy the course you’re interested in.

Just one note: if you’re not already on Fiverr, you will need to sign up with a standard Fiverr account to access it.

Fiverr Learn Course Instructors Are Some of the Best in the World

Fiverr Learn’s biggest strength is its all-star team of vetted expert instructors, some of whom teach exclusively on Fiverr Learn. While these industry movers and shakers may not be household names, they are well-known and respected as thought leaders in their domains.

For freelancers and online professionals seeking training from experts in their chosen field, Fiverr Learn is a solid pick. One of Fiverr’s most impressive instructors is Jon Youshaei, who only offers training through Fiverr Learn.

Go Viral with Jon Youshaei

Jon Youshaei is the instructor on one of Fiverr Learn’s bestselling courses, Viral Marketing: 7 Secrets to Promote Any Product. Youshaei has been featured in Forbes’ 30 Under 30 List, rated by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the world’s best marketers, and hailed by Inc Magazine as the virality code-breaker. He has also worked at YouTube as Head of Creator Product Marketing and at Instagram in Video Product Marketing.

Learning how to make something go viral is a hugely monetizable skill that you can leverage to grow your own business or offer as a service to clients (¿Por qué no los dos?). If you’re a creative in an industry threatened by generative AI’s relentless great leap forward, viral marketing is your secret weapon.

As you might expect, this course is packed with knowledge and this master of viral marketing knows how to engage from the get-go. If you only buy one course on Fiverr Learn, make it Jon’s. This is one of those rewarding learning experiences that I found gave me more insights with each watch – and some great ideas for client work!

Youshaei also offers another course, Stories That Sell: 7 Secrets to Create Killer Content, which is a must-watch for anyone who wants to learn the art of storytelling as a marketing tool. Fiverr often bundles these two courses up as a program with a discount. Youshaei charges big money for one-on-one consultations away from Fiverr, so taking his Learn course is most cost-effective (and only!) way to access his training online.

Other instructors are less exclusive to Fiverr Learn, but their credentials are no less impressive.

Master Google Ads with Isaac Rudansky

Fiverr Learn instructor Isaac Rudanksy's business, AdVenture homepage
Rudansky runs one of the world’s leading digital ad agencies: his Fiverr Learn course is a steal

Since starting AdVenture Media in 2011, Isaac Rudansky has built a global reputation as a Google Ads and PPC expert. Today, his clients include colossal brands like Forbes and AMC. There’s a good chance that you’ve seen his work over the years without ever realizing it.

The good news is that Rudansky doesn’t gatekeep his expertise. With over 900,000 students taught and 450 companies served, Rudansky is an experienced instructor with a deep understanding of the profitable inner workings of Google Ads.

He offers 3 courses on Fiverr Learn:

Put Your Social Media Marketing Strategy on Steroids with Rita Cidre

Cidre has been ranked as a Top Growth Marketer by Hubspot and has held senior positions in marketing at companies like Zillow. She’s also an adjunct teaching Social Media Content Strategy at Vienna University of Economics and Business.

Not enrolled at Vienna University and living your own Sound of Music dream life? Stay at home and enjoy the opportunity to learn from Cidre with one of the best-selling courses on Fiverr Learn:

Other instructors, including Michael Shermer, Lavanya Vijayan, and Aaron Nace are also teaching on Fiverr Learn. This is by no means a comprehensive list, just an illustration of the consistently high quality and caliber of instructor on Fiverr Learn.

Fiverr Learn Pricing and Refund Policy

Fiverr Learn captions are great

I found Fiverr Learn’s pricing to be affordable, with courses cost coming in somewhere between $20 to $50. In general, the longer the course, the more it costs. For the best deals, I recommend checking out the programs. These bundle related courses together and often have good discount deals.

For example, the 17-hour Become a Digital Marketer program is often on sale at $150 – a discount of 52% on its regular price of $311. With a 4.8-star overall rating from thousands of people, it’s one of the most popular choices on the Fiverr Learn marketplace.

While similar bundled courses exist on all elearning platforms, Fiverr Learn stands out for having the viewpoints and expertise of multiple experts, rather than just a random dude bundling his greatest hits together (hello, Udemy!). This expertise can be had with a simple one-off simple payment, rather than an endless subscription.

Fiverr Learn’s Refund Policy Is A Little Stark

While Fiverr Learn provides a wide range of skills, allowing learners spread their wings, the refund policy might clip them somewhat. While researching for this article, one of the biggest complaints I found was from people who purchased a course and didn’t realize that the refund policy was so limited.

  • If you complete a course, you cannot get a refund
  • You must request a refund within 30 days of purchase
  • Refunds take five to ten business days to process
  • Programs are only refunded based on incomplete courses
  • Users must contact Fiverr Customer Support for Fiverr Learn refunds

For programs, the refund amount is calculated based on the program’s full price minus the incomplete courses’ full price.  Fiverr also reserves the right to suspend accounts that abuse refunds. Fiverr does make it clear that there’s a 30-day money-back-guarantee on its course pages, but you do have to dig around the small print for a lot of this information.

Fiverr Learn Isn’t a Community Learning Experience

If you take as many courses online as I do, then you know how valuable it can be when a course comes with an emphasis on building a buzzing community around their course. It could be a private Facebook group, it could be a message board within the course, or any other social element. In some cases, the community is even more valuable than the actual course due to the knowledge shared in the community!

Sure, “this course has a community” is about branding, influencing, and generating buzz with social proof as much as it is the content, but it’s still a powerful resource for the learner. The course creator can be super involved in their community. Even in communities where they aren’t, the community itself is often an invaluable resource for networking and knowledge.

Fiverr Learn is not one of these types of platform. The most community interaction you’ll see here is through the posted user review. With that said, wider Fiverr does have an active community and forums where Fiverr’s users frequently discuss Fiverr and freelancing. If you’re planning to use Fiverr (or do already) then it’s a great resource. If you’re not, it won’t be particularly useful to you.

A Standard Fiverr Account Is Required

Fiverr Learn needs a regular Fiverr account

If you want to use Fiverr Learn, you will need to sign up for a standard Fiverr account. While this makes logging in a breeze for existing Fiverr users, it may be a bit confusing for people new to the Fiverr platform.

Starting an account on Fiverr is free, and you don’t need to use the freelance marketplace at all. It’s a smart move by Fiverr to increase its userbase, but there are is one major caveat I should mention….

You cannot change your Fiverr username

Think carefully – you may want to sell or buy on Fiverr in future. That means you should be considering things like whether you want to use your personal or brand details, or go fully anonymous.

The only way to change your username is to delete your account, which will mean losing access to your courses and on-platform accreditation. This isn’t a great solution, however you try to pain it! If you’re stuck for ideas, then check out my post on creating a great Fiverr username.

My Personal Experience With Fiverr Learn

Personally, I like Fiverr Learn. Yes, it has a smaller selection of courses than other sites, and yes, the courses can sometimes be a bit pricier than elsewhere. The content isn’t as in-depth as you might find on Coursera, and the lack of certification means there’s limited utility here for employees.

However, I’m a freelancer and online content creator. Skills and knowledge I can use now are more important than certificates that I can show people later!

I like the fact that there’s no monthly subscription eating away at my monthly budget. Like most people today, I’m burned out from having to subscribe to everything. I’d much rather pay once. I also appreciate that each course creator has been handpicked and vetted as a genuine leader in their industry, rather than a self-appointed guru with feather-light credentials.

Fiverr Learn might not be the biggest elearning website out there, nor even the best. But in my opinion, it’s a good place to look next time you’re looking for a course in the digital marketing or online business space. These courses get you up to speed with the basics with expert guidance. And sometimes, that’s all you really need.

Which Online Platform? Fiverr Learn Alternatives

consider different elearning options

I’ll be writing more in-depth reviews of these platforms at a later date. Here, I’m just going to very quickly compare the three elearning platforms that most of us think of when it comes to skilling up online.

Coursera

Coursera is the big daddy of the elearning space. It offers comprehensive learning that can count toward university credits and professional accreditation – some of these courses are more like taking entire semesters! It’s a great choice if you’re looking for professional recognition of learned skills. However, it you’re simply looking to learn new a new creative and business skill to grow your own business quickly, then Fiverr Learn may the better choice.

Skillshare

Skillshare has a huge catalog covering many topics, all taught by experienced professionals in their industries. It’s a great place to jump in and start exploring new learning paths thanks to  its subscription membership. While Skillshare has plenty of courses to get stuck into, they are can be short and miss out on the finer details. If you prefer subscriptions to PAYG learning, Skillshare might be better for you.

Udemy

Udemy has a huge amount of courses, with new ones being added daily. However, the quality of courses can be inconsistent, since not all are taught by verified and vetted experts. Like Fiverr Learn, Udemy sells courses separately with lifetime access. With over 213,000 courses available as of December 2023, you’re not likely to run out of learning material anytime soon!

Is Fiverr Learn Worth It For Fiverr Sellers?

If you’re a seller on Fiverr, one of the biggest questions you have is probably whether this will help you get more orders or not. I have to be honest – no, Fiverr Learn alone will not help you to get orders on the Fiverr marketplace.

It will give you a badge that you can add to your Fiverr profile, showcasing your new skill, which can work to convert potential buyers. But to get there, buyers will need to click from your gig to your profile, then click on a “more about me” button. It’s not exactly intuitive, nor is it front and center where you would ideally want it.

Here are two screenshots that illustrate the difference:

pre-2024 Fiverr seller profile with prominent Fiverr Learn badges
Fiverr Learn on seller profile page pre-2024 (bottom left)
Fiverr Learn badges on new (2024) Fiverr seller profile page
In 2024, you need to click ‘more about me’ to find the same badges.

Another potential downside is that once you take a course on Fiverr Learn, you cannot remove it from your profile page. For most, this won’t be an issue – but if you decide to pivot into a very different industry with no obvious overlap, it might look a bit strange. Still, tucked away in the dark recesses of the profile page as it currently is, this shouldn’t be a major consideration.

If you’re serious about making money with Fiverr but lack any real experience or know-how to get started, Fiverr Learn isn’t a bad place to start. You can unlock your earning potential by taking courses that interest you and immediately put them into motion on the marketplace (psstread my Seller Guides to get ahead!).

Final Verdict: Fiverr Learn Is an Elearning A-Lister

Fiverr Learn is a good choice for freelancers

Hopefully, you’ve now come to a decision about whether Fiverr Learn is the right choice for you or not. As an avid online learner myself, I was impressed at the smart platform and easy organization of the site. I just wish there was more choice of courses. Fiverr’s vetting means that the process of adding more courses can feel somewhat glacial, but this is a problem that will disappear as the catalog is built up.

The content I reviewed was of a high quality and well worth the admission price. As with all elearning platforms, some instructors are better than others, and production values can vary. Thankfully, each course has a preview and closed captions, so it’s easy to check before buying, and you have 30 days to refund, so long as you don’t complete the course.

If you’re tired of endless subscriptions chewing away at your monthly budget when all you need is access to a couple of courses, Fiverr Learn is a solid pick. If you’re a Fiverr seller, it’s also worth weighing up the small advantage you may get in the marketplace. While this won’t be the magic convert-all button, it could be a clincher in a tie-off between you and another seller, if not because of the badge itself but the knowledge you can demonstrate.

Fiverr Learn is never going to compete with Coursera, Udemy, or the other big names in the space – at least not in its present form. And that’s fine, because that’s not what it sets out to do. Instead, it’s focused on helping freelancers and small businesses to quickly get to grips with a new skill.

For people who really want to master a skill, Fiverr Learn might be a good launchpad, but more in-depth training will be needed to really master it. Even now, almost 5 years after launch, there’s nothing else quite like Fiverr Learn out there. Despite its flaws, it has a lot of potential for growth with online courses from more industry experts coming all the time. I won’t be using it to master a skill, but I will definitely be checking it for courses that can quickly get me up to speed with best practice now.

Fiverr Learn also has something that many other platforms don’t – a whole marketplace behind it. If you want to become a freelancer but are struggling to land a job or don’t even really know where to start, this is where to start. Find courses that interest you and start your freelancing career on Fiverr with on-platform certification (or elsewhere!).

I hope that this thorough review has helped you to make an informed decision. If you have any questions, check the FAQ below or leave a comment!

FAQ About Fiverr Learn

Fiverr Learn FAQs

Does Fiverr Learn Really Pay?

Fiverr Learn doesn’t necessarily pay, but the skills you learn from it may help you to get work as a freelancer on the platform or grow your business away from the platform. On Fiverr, you’ll also need to learn the Terms of Service and all the platform’s quirks to succeed – and experience is the best teacher for that!

Is Fiverr Learn Worth It?

Yes, it can be. It depends on what your ultimate goal is. Fiverr offers a wide range of courses covering several service categories on its freelance platform. Learning best practice from expert instructors with high quality content is a way to stand out. With 24/7 access and no annoying recurring subscription fees, the one-off payment can also be attractive to people who don’t want to work on Fiverr. Whether you want to upskill or stay ahead of the competition, it’s a solid choice.

Is Fiverr Learn Safe and Legit?

Fiverr Learn is safe and secure. As a public company on the NASDAQ, payment and use of the site is secure. The courses themselves are taught by industry experts who share their own experience and hands-on knowledge.

Is Fiverr Learn Free?

Only one course is free. The others are paid. Pricing is affordable and there are almost always deals going. You can also check if a course is included in Fiverr Learn program, since these are almost always on discount.

Is it Hard to Get a Refund From Fiverr Learn?

So long as your course isn’t completed and you contact Fiverr Customer Support within 30 days of making a purchase, you shouldn’t have any issues. If Fiverr tries to give you Fiverr Credits (that you can use to purchase gigs on the Fiverr marketplace), then request that they refund to your bank account per the terms of their Payment TOS! Just don’t make a habit of refunding, otherwise Fiverr may suspend your account and you will lose access to all your courses and the Fiverr marketplace.
